N+1 Labs
Hardware still gets proven by building it. Assembly problems show up on the line after the tooling is cut. N+1 Labs predicts what fails in your next build, before you build it.
Every factory has three versions.
- N−1
- The product and its factory, rebuilt from the box. Teardowns, measured parts, BOM, assembly and the full line, every value marked with where it came from.
- N
- The line you actually run. It stays yours. We'll calibrate against it.
- N+1
- The line you run next, simulated. Thousands of virtual units through the proposed stations, ranked by what fails and why, before tooling.
Open Product is the public side. Each release is an OPD, short for Open Product Description. It shows how a real product and its factory are built, open for anyone to learn from and build on. Releases live at openproduct.co.
What a hardware team buys. First, a blind backtest: we predict the failures of a build you already ran, from the files you had before it, and you score us. Then a build risk report before each new build.
Where it stands. Everything runs on simulated builds today. Nothing has been tested on a real line yet. The blind backtest is the first proof.
It started at a hackathon. Factory N+1, my October 2026 build, redesigned a simulated warehouse floor and won NVIDIA Best Use of Nemotron. The N+1 Labs engine is separate and built for hardware assembly lines.
N+1 Labs started in October 2026, after I left Meta. Nothing in it comes from Apple or Meta.
